It may seem that the original and best launcher of all time has not been updated, as people often assume that time follows a strict progression of cause and effect. However, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, we actually released this update three years ago and you may not have realized it. Rest assured, we understand that not everyone has the time or resources to spare.
Having said that, we have taken note of Google's recommendations on avoiding excessive app options and settings, and we have made the opposite choice. We believe that freedom of choice is crucial for fostering creativity. The Launcher may appear overwhelming to some, but it is precisely this wide range of configurable options that makes it the best launcher. The possibilities are endless and the math doesn't lie.
Yes, we offer screens, icons, and widgets – everything you need to customize your device. If you prefer ready-made options, you can use themes or widget and template packs. Is your device's desktop feeling dull? Change it up, just like Sam. It's your style, your rules. Do whatever you like – or don't. There's a setting for everything. Tweak it, change it, shake it up – the choice is yours.
And remember, "There's no such thing as 'the unknown,' only options inside ADW Settings."

We have reprogrammed and redesigned most of the application from scratch. Additionally, we have added numerous new features:

 <li>Support for Android 7.1 launcher shortcuts (limited support on older versions down to 5.x)</li>
 <li>New icons effects section where you can choose image filters and compositions</li>
 <li>Dynamic UI coloring that adjusts to your wallpaper colors</li>
 <li>A new way to manage screens by holding down an empty area of the desktop</li>
 <li>A new way to add widgets and shortcuts</li>
 <li>A new way to change the wallpaper, lock/unlock the desktop, or access settings by holding down an empty area of the desktop and selecting the desired option</li>
 <li>Added a fast scroll app drawer style</li>
 <li>Added an indexed fast scroll app drawer style</li>
 <li>Introduced new desktop transitions</li>
 <li>Added a new section for configuring icon badges</li>
 <li>Added a visual mode for configuring desktop, icon appearance, folder appearance, and app drawer options</li>
 <li>Added the option to change the top panel/widget</li>
 <li>Added the option to change the content type of the bottom panel (dock/widget)</li>
 <li>Introduced a new wrap folder mode which allows you to launch the first app in a folder on tap and view the folder contents on swipe up</li>
 <li>Added a new fast application search in the app drawer</li>
 <li>Improved app categories in the app drawer</li>
 <li>Enhanced management of user gestures</li>
 <li>Improved application of internal and external themes</li>
 <li>Enhanced context menu for all desktop objects</li>
 <li>Added a new Custom Widget object that allows you to create, edit, and share custom widgets from a widget list or import them from friends and other developers</li>
 <li>Introduced initial extensions for custom widgets such as time and battery displays</li>
 <li>Check out ADWExtensions pack for more extensions like weather and Gmail integration</li>
 <li>Added template manager to easily remove, add, and share templates</li>
 <li>Improved icon properties dialog</li>
 <li>Improved folder properties dialog</li>
 <li>Added a backup manager in advanced settings/system to import data from other popular launchers (if one is missing, please let us know so we can include it!)</li>
 <li>Added the ability to set a secondary action on desktop shortcuts. Swipe up over the shortcut to execute the secondary action</li>
 <li>And probably 2 or 200 other things that I'm forgetting...</li>
 <li>A bunch of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff on the inside!</li>
</ul>
